How To Start Your Level Up Journey In 2022
The ultimate G.Y.S.T checklist for the new year
Hey It Girls! I hope you've all had an amazing Christmas (if you celebrate it) and have thoroughly enjoyed slowing down a little over the past few days. We've got less than a week until 2021 and despite the year we've all had, I can't help but still feel optimistic about the new year. This has always been my favourite time of year as it's the only real time you get to sit down and reflect on the past and prepare for the future. It's safe to say things are going to be a little different this time around but that doesn't mean our goals have to take a backseat. If you're planning on starting your level up journey next year and need a head start, look no further! In this blog post I'm giving you the ultimate Level Up Checklist for 2021 so you can start your new year right!
APPEARANCE

So obviously looks aren't everything but there is something satisfying about starting the new year with a new look. Aiming to look your best going into a new year will help you feel more confident and will set the tone for how you maintain yourself going forward. One thing I'm working on for 2021 is creating a signature look for myself. I want to make getting dressed every morning as effortless as possible while ensuring I naturally look my best. So if you're planning to really find your style in the new year, here's a few ways you can get started:
Create 1-2 easy, natural hairstyles that you can maintain anytime of year e.g. a sleek low bun, a top knot etc.
Get a fresh manicure & pedicure
Develop a simple skincare routine for day & night
Create an effortless natural makeup look for everyday
Consider creating a capsule wardrobe

MENTAL

So if you've read any of my blog posts before, you'll know I'm all about mastering your mindset. There is honestly no better time to start training your mind than the start of the year when you're most aware of your habits and changes you want to make. If you're looking to have a level up transformation, you'll need to ensure you have the mental tools and a plan to make it all happen. Here's a few ways you can do this in the new year:
Invest in a set of physical journals for the following topics: Goals/Manifesting, Abundance Logging/Financial Planning, Personal Growth & Development
Develop a morning routine you can follow regardless of how busy you are
Create a reading list for self-development books
Book-in or invest in therapy sessions

CAREER

Whether you're going back to your 9-5, starting a new job or hoping to launch a business in the new year, getting organised is essential. Many of us will continue working from home which can make it hard to stay focused and keep a schedule. Next year I'll be balancing a new job with growing my blog and further developing my creative studio, Lydia May Branding, so I'm giving myself a head-start by preparing as much as I can before we hit January. Here's a few ways you can get into boss babe mode in time for the new year:
Set quarterly growth goals for your job or business
Invest in a daily planning system to keep track of daily to-dos
Batch create content for the month ahead
Fill out your January content calendar
Create a weekly content/work schedule

FINANCES

I know we've all seen those memes about being 'where the money reside' in 2021! One thing that seems to be on everyone's minds for the new year is getting those finances in order. If your idea of budgeting up until now hasn't extended beyond trying to keep a 'mental note' of your spending habits, now's the time to get serious and plan with intention! Here's a few ways to get started on this in the new year:
Create a reading list for financial development
Set financial goals for the year
Set monthly savings targets
Invest in a financial planner
Unfollow accounts that make it harder to save and replace them with accounts that offer financial tips and advice e.g. @go_fund_yourself_, @blackgirlmoney_.
