How To Embody Main Character Energy

Okay so I know I am way late on this trend but since discovering the whole concept of 'main character energy' on TikTok, I've become obsessed. If you're not familiar with what it means, it's basically the idea that you embody a magnetic, charismatic energy and confidence that draws others to take interest in you. Despite facing conflicts within your 'character story', you always come out on top in the end. The main character is one-of-a-kind and lives their life unapologetically everyday. Essentially the 'main character' is an It-Girl, something we can all be for ourselves! So if you feel like you've been on autopilot for a while now and want to start living your best life, here are some tips to help you become the 'main character'.
1. ROMANTICISE YOUR LIFE
One practice that has made a huge impact for me is embracing the small, beautiful details in life. Staring in awe at a sunset, buying myself flowers, taking a late night drive; these are all amazing experiences to be grateful for. Romanticising your life is essentially a practice of daily gratitude. When you can embrace and appreciate the little things, your life instantly begins to feel more full and optimistic.
2. WEAR WHATEVER YOU WANT
One of the things I am instantly drawn to when I think of 'main character energy' is that person that isn't afraid to wear whatever they want. Particularly living in the UK, it's safe to say that unless it's a special occasion, most of us tend to dress to fit in rather than stand out. We wear whatever is popular on Instagram, we shop in the same stores and wonder why we feel so...basic. A lot of times we fear the extra attention we'll get if we dare to be different, but if you want to embody that 'main character energy', it's time to be seen! I don't know about you but after being stuck in sweats for the better part of a year, I'm more than ready to turn heads in some killer looks!
3. CREATE A SOUNDTRACK TO YOUR LIFE
Okay so I know we've all done that thing where we stare out the window, listening to music and pretending to be in a music video or film. There's something so intriguing about the energy we feel in those moments; something almost magical about it. I experienced this magic on my first ever visit to Paris. I completely fell in love with the city, walking the streets with Lana Del Rey crooning in my ears. By listening to your favourite music while you explore and go about your life, you create stronger, more beautiful memories for yourself.
4. TRY SOMETHING NEW
Becoming the 'main character' means no longer living on autopilot. Monotonous repetition is a sure way to remain uninspired and unimpressed with your own life. It's time to start living! If you find yourself stuck in a rut or boring routine, switch it up and try something new. Whether it's joining a cooking class or taking the scenic route home from work for a change, doing something different will spark your brain back into action. You'll find yourself inspired by the world around you and feeling more fulfilled in your daily life.
5. VALIDATE YOURSELF
Instead of looking for external validation, validate yourself. Be unapologetic about the things you love, no matter what others may think about it. This is definitely one I'm trying to get better with but I've begun to realise just how much you miss out on by caring what others think. I've also realised that it's okay to be multi-faceted. You can have an interest in philosophy and also love reality TV. You can be a luxurious self-care queen and also love comic books. The 'main character' keeps everyone guessing and is always able to surprise people with their knowledge on niche topics, so embrace all your interests to the fullest!
